Goulandris Natural History Museum

Goulandris Natural History Museum

The Goulandris Natural History Museum was the first Natural History Museum to be established in 1964 in Greece. It was also the pioneer of environmental education. In 1991 the Museum established the Greek Biotope/Wetland Centre, located in Thessaloniki. Its priorities include: halting the loss of natural ecosystems in Greece and other areas, as well as their rehabilitation. In 1999 the Museum moved towards the foundation of GAIA Centre for Environmental Research and Education, an innovative centre of scientific research and education aiming to function as the museum of the future.
