Discovering professions related to the environment / Biodiversity

The High School students of the island of Agios Efstratios, had the opportunity to “host” at their classroom the Tipping Point’s mentor Mr. George Katsadorakis, Biologist and Ornithologist, who is also a specialist at Environmental Management & Interpretation, via a live teleconference, from a specially designed for the program electronic platform.

The conversation revolved around the topic of biodiversity, with the students showing immediately an interest, while setting questions about the matters in which they are interested in. The dialogue started with the analysis of the meaning of the term biodiversity and the students expressed their concerns relating on how the primary production as well as the birds species are being affected by the biodiversity of an ecosystem. The conversation was completed with an analytic report on oak trees, which are a main characteristic of the island.
